Could also be concern over the K7 in June and the hype that it will be the fastest 500MHZ processor for windows; if they can even produce it properly? I'm currently looking at INTC for a buy-in now. I seem them as the long term dominant player in the chip industry.

Maybe NSM's announcement was seen as very positive for AMD and therefor very negative for Intel. Intel's competition is now concentrated in AMD, so it is less diffuse. This could be perceived as stronger competition. AMD is holding up better than usual today.
