Frank,

I live in the boonies and even with a 56k modem the very best speed I can get is 26.4k. AOL caches a lot of their art and stuff on the hard drive and therefore "appears" to be faster, although I never use AOL for surfing the net because its much slower than Netscape and MSexploder (although I haven't tried the newer versions of MSE lately). I figure that with dsl I won't have to wait forever for web pages to load, especially the ones with lots of graphics and that will take away the layering effect of AOL. And free up a lot of hard drive space

Scott

edit: and will save me $10 bucks a month. We don't have a AOL number here so I bring my own local ISP (Interconnect.com) so that I don't have to pay long distance charges. My neighbor, a newbie to the web, was dialing up AOL long distance and ran up a $1,700 phone bill in one month. She came squalling to me about it and I got her hooked up with the bring your own ISP plan. We pay about $20/mo for Interconnect
