Win-Lose-Draw: Thanks for a very frank and fair Xchange on ASIC logistics. As you correctly state, the limitation is initial expense. Yet the same Companies blow over $300m in write offs (U.B Networks)and crib for expanding R&D design in a rational manner. I will concur that Testing and Tuning is usually the focal hold up point. That is a seperate subject and one that deserves a entire Board to itself. All I can say is that with the current availability of FPGA's , large scale simulated testing is becoming easier.
