Thread: I am back from my vacation. Glad that I have a policy to increase cash before I take vacations. Hoping that after the next couple of weeks we see the big moves leading to earnings.

johnd, We should see a big surprise from MSFT's earnings report.
It also looks like they securing their long term objectives with all these deals in cable in US and Europe.
Greg Maffei knows that 5billion investment in AT&T might just be a bargain at the conversion price of $75.
I am betting on AT&T and Media One stock along with call options on both. Combined, they are my largest holdings by a mile.

I am hoping to put more cash into MSFT soon but just don't know where the bottom is on the stock--it just might be the current price. Might just buy some more if we see $76 to $77 tomorrow.
IMHO, it will have a great ride for the next year or so. It is just a matter of timing to get the best prices. There are just too many forces at work that can cause a sell off at the present time----
trial, Y2K, interest rates. If you have all three at work, it is hard for the stock to move up significantly before encountering serious selling pressure.

It should move up in a big way just after the resumption of the trial but we could see more selling leading up the start date.

"the analysts fooling themselves with .36 estimate"

what i find interesting is that among 17 prognosticators the range is only .05. .38 high and .33 low.
