>> might be like putting a rocket engine into a VW

<g> I know of someone who actually did that. He won the 1997 Darwin award.

Anyway, I think you are right about lack of need to release Rampage now. But I think 3dfx must make sure that Rampage will be released for back to school season. This will allow for good production ramp up and and software developement in time for the X-mas season. Of course, this may conflict with the 2-year cycle which 3dfx wants to persue, but at this stage of the game, I think it is better to make yourself obsolete than let others do it to you.

FYI...CEO Ballard has been added to the board of gamemaker THQ. Check the stock (THQI) out if you like, it appears very undervalued. The news release can be found here:

About V4 at E3.

It seems that a lot a people are sure this is going to
happen. Not only that it seems like it will blow
everyone away. My concern is that if this was true
and news has leaked so much, why in earth is the volume
of the stock so low with no movement.

We have the OEM announcements coming up, the merger will
be complete, we all know at earnings they will at least
announce how great V3 is doing in retail (which has pretty
much been confirmed). So, whats going on - are insiders not
allowed to buy until the merger goes through?

One thought about the timing of the meetings. Now that
the STB side has voted to OK the merger all thats left is
3dfx. It seems like they would already have enough votes
by now and can already move on the actual merger. Its
possible they can announce that the merger is complete
at the meeting and start giveing info about V4 and
OEM deals.
