JK, MSFT is too unpredictable short term and so is the market. The downward pressures from trial, y2k, interest rate rises in 30year bond are causing big problems for the stock. However, if you look further out into the future, I think Microsoft will fly for a long time. I stated June as turnaround simply because of the anticipation of earnings release and (probably) the underestimated earnings.

Any deal with the DOJ should really give the stock a big pop as well. Or the restart of the trial should also help the stock after the first day or so.

Plan to hold for at least 1 year, and IMHO, you will be rewarded big. MSFT has been getting harder and harder to predict on a short term basis and that is why I am staying away from the options except for some leaps 2001--Don't hold much stock at all (sold before going on vacation).
I evaluate the situation everyday and might buy as soon as I feel that the stock can't keep going lower. Currently holding about 30% cash in retirement accounts and want to buy some MSFT stock if I feel it has reversed course--- OR might actually buy more Media One for a short term trade if UMG stock does not trade high enough based upon the AT&T buyout price. ( However, I am already overweighted in "T" and "UMG" and will soon look to reduce my holdings).

Best of Luck.
