Many South Americans depend on slim pickin's pick and shovel prospecting for their bread on the table. Zappa Resources effectively ceded tertiary claim property to the locals to dig gold in Ecuador a year or two back in recognition of this fact. Very humanitarian compared to Clinton who is more interested in burying people in rubble.

<<GS, The liberal Clintonians have been screwing the South Africans for the last several years on gold. They did all they could to get Mandela into power and then cut off his most important economic resource. It was all feel good liberalism. I have been there. SA needs the economic benefit of a strong gold price. Many poor black miners support extended families on their earnings in the mines.

But now it is not politically important to support their economics. It was only important for US votes to change the government.
