You are right. I don't think too many people follow this thread. Most focus on @Home, the cable internet part of the business. That is where you get a lot of comments about AT&T.
I am really starting to like this stock--it is by far my largest holding (combined with Media One).
I just want to see Media One trade at where it is supposed to if there was no uncertainty about regulatory approval.

Here in Portland we have TCI and cable modems are being installed all over the city, that is why I went long T last week. IMHO the ISP provider just died. Game Set Match :-)

Nope! With your $150 fee that amounts to $17 more per month for the next year.

Question: If you already have cable tv do you have to have a second cable run for internet service?

Mark,

I just installed a cable modem and I love it, but I knew I would. You just think you are in the middle of nowhere, I'm in Juneau Alaska. I work for AT&T our company was acquired in 1995. I had no interest in retaining AT&T shares until Mr. Armstrong came along. Now AT&T is one of my holdings. He still has a lot of house cleaning to do though.

May 12 my cable modem gets installed. I called April 27 and there was a free installation that ended the end of April. As long as I ordered before May 1,I get the no charge installation. The room I have my computer in has a cable outlet I am not using and I said I still wanted to have the option of connecting a TV to the cable in this room. They said no problem, they would split off another connector at no charge. GTE is the phone provider in my county and the cable system was installed last year by Lucent for GTE. The old TCI cable connections are still in the walls. My next door neighbor is connected to TCI which is not a state of the art system here.

This isn't an ad for @Home. I'm only trying to figure out if it's REALLY going to take as long for broadband to hit as they say it is in this article.

Mark,

If cable internet access was offered in my area (L.A.) I would get it in a second. I'm still using 56k, waiting for the magic day that TCI gets off it's @ss and flips the switch.

mark, i use roadrunner cable...so much faster than the ole
phone line. my sister has aol over phone line. amzingly
slow but equally amazing that she & her family are used to
it. my sister says..."i do chores while it changes from
one screen to another".

case is smart enuff to capture 14 million with a pathetic
(slow) product. he is smart enuff to retain them with a
high speed solution.
