Rande thanks for the reply, I thought ANTC would compliment based on what I read from your GIC musings, as T via TCI is a significant holder of ANTC.

sec.gov

At December 31, 1998, TCI, as a result of its prior
ownership of TSX common stock and its purchase of an additional 500,000 shares
of ANTEC common stock in 1998 from Anixter International, was the beneficial
owner of approximately 19% of the outstanding ANTEC common stock. TCI's
beneficial ownership includes options to acquire an additional 854,341 shares.

If there are any cable upgrades that Media One would require in the future, it stands to reason ANTC would benefit based on its existing relationship with TCI and by extension T. Industry wide there is a cyclical upswing in the cable industry as the cable companies upgrade existing infrastructure to provide the broadband for cable telephony.
Cable equipment suppliers like GIC will benefit from this trend.

As for future earnings ANTC has estimates for 162% eps growth this year and has manage to surpass previous esp consensus 3 out of 4 times the past 4 Qs. Implying more upside ahead?

I'm not going to beat a dead horse, just replying to your questions and what I thought made ANTC, in the same vein as GIC, something worth considering. It's a big world out there with many stocks.
We can't play them all. Sounds like you have enough T related stocks in the port as it is.<g>

have a nice day,
