ATHM's @work division just rolled out a service provider promotion for their out_source service. I attended their conference this afternoon in San Jose. The three major partners are SUN, CISCO and AT&T. The speaker from sun said 80 percent ISP use sun gear including MSN. And the message from @home is "The reliability of the entire system is never better than the weakest link." The major concerns for IP Platform are: 1. IP Platform Building Blocks. 2. Cost of Downtime. 3. Reliability and Performance Requirements. 4. Alternative Solutions. 5. Balanced Price/Performance. The cost of Downtime for E_commence is $10,000/minute. It is clear SUN's solution is well adopted at @home at the present time. It would be interested to watch the new found winT&T would promote what kind of solution if they do have the vision.
