MASTEC AWARDED $64 MILLION IN NEW NORTH AMERICAN CONTRACTS

Miami, Fl. MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ) announced today that the Company's External and Internal Network Service lines have been awarded $64 million in new contracts within the last 60 days. The scope of services includes residential installations and rebuilds for cable television, traffic signals and video camera placement for intelligent transportation systems, telecommunications infrastructure projects, and substation construction and fiber optic cable deployment for power companies. The majority of these new contracts will be completed during 1999. Including previously announced awarded contracts, MasTec has been awarded approximately $400 million in new contracts in 1999.

These new contracts include the following customers: Williams
Communications, Level 3, Enron Communications, BellSouth, Rogers Cable, TCI, Virginia Power, FP&L, Southwestern Bell, the South Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Florida Department of Transportation.
