When the most basic cultural assumptions are not shared amongst member nations, there is little chance of a working world politic being implemented. A fair world body would have to be representative, and as Ive posted before, the US and Europe surely are not going to submit their sovereignty to the majority vote of China (1.5 bills make a nice headstart), nor is a fundamentalist nation such as Iran or Afghanistan going to submit its sovereignty and religious precepts to the humanism of the West.
