I give on that one, taken that Jesuit activity is not the activity of the Church, per se. But my point was that being Catholic does not preclude being an antisemite. The vitriol issuing forth from Jesuits in Rome at the time of Affair was quite astonishing. If we admit that antisemitism is not merely Jew-hatred, but the vehicle for a political attack upon the State, then the clericalism of the time was a very good case of French antisemitism (which has always been of the milder kind). Its worth noting that less than fifty years later, in Vichy France, the Bishops actively opposed a Clerical French state based upon antisemitism. Which in my roundabout way, is me saying that being Catholic does not presuppose antisemitism either ;)
