Denver--May 6--Newmont Mining Corp. doubts the International Monetary Fund
will be able to sell gold to help indebted countries because it is likely
to be blocked by the US Congress, company officials said today. Congress
holds veto powers over their proposals to sell about 5-10 million ounces
from IMF reserves. By Darcy Keith, Bridge News, Story .26863

Taipei--May 7--Taiwan's gold imports totaled 8.950 tonnes in April,
compared with 3.776 tonnes a year earlier, the Finance Ministry announced
today. By Stephen Burstein, Bridge News, Story .6016

Santiago--May 6--Gold prices today are intimately tied to the US dollar and
would get a boost if the dollar were to slip from today's highs on signs of
possible weakness in the US' roaring economy, the president and CEO of
Canadian gold miner Placer Dome John Willson said today. Willson said he
expected the US' economic bubble--as reflected in run-away stock markets--
to burst "quite soon." By David Plumb, Bridge News, Story .26010

Thread,

Earlier last night I suggested it was time for an IMF sale. See post
exchange2000.com

I believe a key element to the Clinton game plan is to pump money like hell into the system to keep it afloat and to manipulate gold to cool fears of inflation. Once the gold price starts to move there will be interest rate pressures that the great Clinton market bubble will not be able to withstand. Therefore, the one thing that has kept him in power ( the Dow Jones ) will also turn against him.

We in the states have sold our souls to this guy so that we can have a Dow Jones party. The hang over will be awful.

Bob

Well, they broke a bit of my resolve today. My "norm" is around two drinks three afternoons a week. Near never more. Just finished my 4th shot of straight tequila(gold thank you very much)and we are still north of 6AM here in Colorado. Just heard an "analyst" on Bloomberg TV saying we are facing sure inflation or reflation from here forward.
He said in those conditions you can only buy gold and their producers.
they cut him right off!

<<London, 12:15 SA time (Sapa-AFP) - The euro held firm against the dollar in Europe early on Friday, sustained by continuing optimism of a breakthrough in the Balkans crisis, although traders were cautious before publication of US unemployment data.
Gold meanwhile took a pasting after the announcement by the Bank of England that it would sell 415 tons - more than half of its gold reserves.>>

<<STOCKHOLM, May 7 (Reuters) - Sweden"s central bank, the Riksbank, said on Friday it had no plans to change the level of its gold reserves, after news that Britain planned to sell 125 tonnes of its gold holdings in fiscal 1999/2000. >>

Just what's the F'n deal here, can't they even get their lies right between themselves any more?
