A lot of these pledges to sell are just that. If gold falls further buy more mining shares. Bonds still lost ground on Friday. These are desperate moves. I think the move in gold comes this year.

It makes no sense for the Brits or the swiss to sell at mutli-year lows or to boldly proclaim they are selling before they do. There's only one reason for the sale announcements -- confidence. Maybe they can keep gold down for a little while.

Heck, look at the half life of the announced sale from the IMF -- it was a smaller sale I think, but someone obviously felt compelled to raise the stakes. I think after a little while you'll see the mining shares shrug this off, too.

Makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes.
