Bosco - Thank you! The key appears to be "the connection broker" whose intelligence resides in both the call server and gateway. I don't understand all of that but it sure sounds impressive.

DSC become huge as the SS7 supervisor.

Who will be the SS8 supervisor? Cisco, LU, or Alcatel?

DSC was small when SS7 started; who is small now with IP SS8?
