I was just wondering if Britain is planning and has started to do with their gold as Canada has? Buy foreign bonds, in this case USA? Maybe they had become to attractive that they needed to start to take this action to get the sales done ASAP? If this is some devaluation plan by Britain, then bond return would be far better then hoarding the gold in a vault. Maybe they suspect that within two years that US rates will peak, and the US FEDs will lower yields, and they want to catch the cycle?

PS: I've said a long time ago, that any manipulation in the GOLD market was Britains. Now I wonder if GATA will go after Britain?

Alex: "Earlier cb sales were announced 'after' the fact"

Yes this was true of CB sales - but not US Treasury and IMF sales - I don't like this British action at all - but I think the mechanics are far better that disrupting the market with secret sales - the auction results will hopefully surprise us, we're seeing all the factors being discounted right now. d
