TraderC - I don't see any sense in talking about AOL's valuation. By what measure? By conventional measures, it's been overvalued practically from day one. Meanwhile "institutions" finally jumped in - at levels that got to be ASTRONIMICALLY greater than at the time they were staying away... and they upgraded, and set targets over $200.

Nope, this has nothing to do with "valuation". May as well stop talking about that. AOL never traded based on "valuation".

It's all about momentum, retail investors pushing it up relentlessly, and institutions jumping in for the ride.

When it got to approach a level of market cap, where in order to keep growing at the same rate, it would have to be bigger than GE, or MSFT, people simply figured - hey, MSFT has humongous earnings, huge profit margin, an internet angle of it's own - no way can the cap of AOL get to be bigger... so, if things can't get any better - take yer profits, and run. That's all. Nothing to do with "valuation". Never did, never will.

Cheers,

Morgan

YOU SURE NAILED IT!

These guys should realize that it's a totally different game now.
THE NEED FOR SPEED!

I like AOL, and was a customer of theirs for 2 yrs...but i hate waiting for that darn TRIANGLE go in circles while it downloads...especially if it take more than 5 minutes most of the time.

Just as an example...try downloading the New Star Wars "Episode 1" using AOL 56K modem......then go check out a friend who has ATHM service....LOL...you'll be amazed by the speed!

Bottom line is.....AOL SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW...and not just go out there petitioning left and right....AOL should make Cable deals....The Lobby in congress is nt a guarantee that they will have access.

THE STREET knows it! And the STreet is looking forward to using Broadband THRU @WORK by @home!
