Ed Forrest:
Hiring of Robert Harris is sending a clear signal as to where AOL wants to
go. Content centric view rather than pipe-estate centric view. A simple look at current TV sector will give a clear picture of who controls what.
Though Cable operators have the infrastructure, contend providers like CBS, NBC, ABC rule the world. So whatever the thickness and long your pipe is
it does n't matter if it has air. You need contend.
No matter what the infrastructure is, whoever provides content and portal they will rule.
So AOL will be ready to stuff whether there is a thick pipe or thin pipe or no pipe.
Another thing most of these half-baked guys don't realize is that
most of the bottle neck is at the server end not at the last mile.
