the standard practise is for all options to be vested if a division is sold.

W, the SD Union story I read last week was quite explicit that the options were void if the company was sold. No mention was in the agreement about the division being sold.

The last "spun-off" divisions got to keep their options.

There wouldn't be a lawsuit if the option contract provided what you say is "standard" practice. I have spoken with someone at Qcom (non-infra division), who informed me of the option terms. I was responding to a post that was based on a very different situation, which is not analogous to Qcom. One can have an opinion that Qcom situation is not the same fairly readily based on general information about developments in the company over the past six months.
