I think a likely candidate is Fujitsu, which I believe has been Cirrus' most loyal customer (and may be the only OEM that still has current drive models that include a Cirrus chip). WDC has been using parts from STM/Adaptec and IBM recently. WDC recently announced new GMR-based drives with an integrated silicon solution, but not including the read channel, which is probably from STM.

The announcement of only one disk drive manufacturer is a bit of a disappointment, since this single design win was already mentioned when the 3Ci chip was announced almost a year ago. I think Cirrus needs more drive manufacturers with 3Ci to really turn around.

Until the 3Ci shipment become material, I think the only highlight in the mass storage area will be controllers for CD-RW drives. It is my impression that Cirrus has strong market share in this area (probably being present in Sony and HP drives). With OEMs like Dell starting to get interested, this area is very promising for the short term.
