PB,

People on SI tend to make way to much out of the difficulties involved with reliability in MP systems. Verifying and debugging an MP CPU is not that much harder than a single processor CPU. The additional functionality required for MP is minimal. All CPU caches have to be coherent for DMA, regardless of the number of processors in the system.

This is exactly Ten's argument. I gave a simple, logical explanation of how silly this line of reasoning is.

That IT is going to flock to the K7 because it doesn't have the RAS and brand recognition that Intel /Xeon has?

It is pretty obvious that the K7 will be a big success due to the price-gouging currently present in the serve/WS market.
