Gonzongo - Thanks for the directions on moving QP based scans into GET. Everything seemed to go O.K. except that when I run a search/scan in GET off of my Computrac/Metastock datapath, c:\getscans\avgvol, I get no hits in any parameters on 2450 stocks. Some of the things I search on are Elliott wave 4's and stochastics below 30. I know there should be some hits on these simple type scans. Below are the steps I took, from beginning to end, per my interpretation of your instructions. Any help solving this problem would be appreciated - Lenny.

(1) In QP Virtual Setup under the heading QP Profile I chose new profile and checked off "My Own Selections". In the box under "Enter A New Unique Root Metastock Data Directory" I typed in GETSCANS and then hit the create button.

(2) In Output to Metastock I clicked on the "Define automatically updated directories" button and inputed c:\getscans and ticked off the volume scaling as "1's"

(3) In my scan I added the following line:
ProcessMS="c:\getscans\avgvol\",MSDATA; - My complete scan for finding stocks priced over $5.00 and a 30 day average volume of at least 100000 shares is presented below.

output="avgvol.lst";
ProcessMS="c:\getscans\avgvol\",MSDATA;
if Close(0) >= 5 and // At least a 5 dollar stock

AvgVol(0,-29) >= 100000 then // The average volume is at least 100,000 shares

println symbol,",",description;

endif;

(4) I ran the scan in QP. It gave me a list of around 2450 stocks (yes!) and then proceeded to go through a process unknown to me in DOS called qp_lc. Below is what I saw on the black DOS screen:

Cleaning directory c:\getscans\avgvol
Loading symbols from list...
Working on directory c:\getscans\avgvol
" " " c:\getscans\avgvol\MSDATA0
" " " " \MSDATA1
" " " " \MSDATA2
" " " " \MSDATA3
" " " " \MSDATA4
" " " " \MSDATA5
" " " " \MSDATA6
" " " " \MSDATA7
" " " " \MSDATA8
Since my scan had 2450 hits and Metastock only can put 255/directory I believe I am looking at (10) directories (2450/255 = 9.6). Other than that I am lost on the above process.

(5) In the search mode in GET I clicked on Portfolios then Datapath and first un-checked GET data and Quotes Plus. I then added a new datapath, Computrac/Metastock,checked it, highlighted it and hit the properties button. Under "Path:" I put in the box,c:\getscans\avgvol and then ticked off Stocks and Indices, chose Normal under "Name Alternatives" and left Interpret Metastock blank under the "Data Parameters" heading. When I clicked OK after setting up the new datapath Get went through a procedure in which I saw the #'s 1-2450 flash in front of me (does this sometimes with my 24,000 QP/Get database) in a grey box. When completed I exited the Portfolios function.

(6) I now thought I was all set up for any type of GET searches/scans on just my QP scanned 2450 stock database. As I stated before, when I run any of the searches nothing comes up under any parameters never mind all parameters. Sorry for all the detail but I wanted you to see if I have done something wrong or simply left something out - Lenny
