Govt intervention, in the long run is rarely, if ever good for business. Regulation too often is based on votes and campaign $.

Hi Freeus,

I too am wary of government intrevention.

But do you think if the government had not intervened in the 80's to break up AT&T or the FCC did not pass the 1996 Telecommunications Act that the internet would not be where it is today?

I don't think so. The government, in both instances, was correctly using it's regulatory power to promote competition... and boy, do we now have competition.

If AT&T is the only company that will be allowed to provide their telecomm services over that cable, that is anti-competitive. Personally, I hope I have more than one choice over my cable, just like my phone, just like my power.
