U.S stocks drift ahead in cautious midday =3 Some analysts expressed surprise that the response to the data was not more vigorous. "There's been a slight deterioration in psychology," said Trude Latimer, an independent stock broker in Charlottesville, Va. "They should have been much more enthusiastic about the jobs numbers, but the traders are getting nervous; some of the comments from the reigning geniuses are a little more cautious," she added, referring to a speech by Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan on Thursday that warned of inflationary pressure.
