**ot** Alan... RE: POWER CELL...

Remember the HINDENBERG? Hydrogen is too hard to handle and process. In addition, while I can see a high P/E... but 5,000+! You're better off to buy some more Rambus.

Ballard is at least 18 mo old news. Little revenue, a ton of problems to solve, if huge potential it is at least 5 years off if a number of problems can be solved-such as a source of H2 for a "clean fuel". From Oct'97 thru March '98 the stock tripled and has been pretty much dead money since. Ballard riding on hype & hopes now fueled by DCX & Ford. Why clog up this thread with BLDP-there is no comparision in stage of corporate life.

Alan, right now I see astronomical price rather than astronomical potential, it is priced even worse than an internut stock. Some of the latter have a chance at generating some substantial sales in the next 5 years, Ballard, apart of some development contracts, even if the technology works and no new Hindenberg event occurs, is a good seven to ten years away from any mass production. If you are interested in this field, I would recommend another Canadian company priced a little more rationally (of course, because they have earnings of some kind), it is GLE.to. They have a deal with Delphi to try and implement their SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) technology. By the way, whom ever wins, do not short the oils yet, since whether it is hydrogen or natural gas that is going to power these babies, the energy source will still be hydrocarbon of a kind (I have yet to find a hydrogen well in the neighborhood, it is produced by reforming hydrocarbons or even carbon).
