I'm not agreeing with Pat nor disagreeing with him regarding V4 at E3, but I will say that I don't expect the stock to do much of anything till after the merger. What we have heard about V4 is truly wild speculation and I would caution anyone not to get their hopes too high waiting for an E3 announcement because there has been nothing from 3dfx stating that they will announce at E3. Yes they mentioned a summer product, but it was never said if that product would be introduced at E3, nor was it stated that it would be a summer shipping product.
The product will be announced when it is ready to be announced and it should be a whopper, if it's at E3... great... if not, TNT2's are still not on the shelves (here),it looks as if the shipping TNT2's are not reflective of their "DFP out, higher clocked" reference bretherin and V3 execution is wonderful at this point from what I've seen.
Don't worry, be happy. Bobby McFerrin

I think they'll announce a full OpenGL ICD for the V3 at E3.

And it would be about time.

I picked this up on a site devoted to a game formerly known as Mordor II. It's an OpenGL game. vbdesigns.com

5/6/99 - NEW NAME!!!
"Well, it's finally been decided. The final name of the game is DEMISE: Rise of the Ku'tan. We feel that the new name of DEMISE is more fitting for the game, and besides -- it sounds cool! The subtitle "Rise of the Ku'tan" signifies the start of a series based on the Ku'tan, which you will be learning more about when the next version is released.

We will be at E3 this year -- you should be able to identify us through the DEMISE T-Shirts that we will be wearing. While we don't have a booth (we're still in talks with a major publisher), we are set up to be displaying the game on Saturday from Noon to 4:30pm at the 3DFX Interactive booth -- I believe Brian Bruning is in charge of that. I will be there, as well as other team members. Please feel free to drop on by and check things out! I'll be taking time this weekend to update the web site to reflect the new name change."

Their OpenGL FAQ says "3Dfx still hasn't released an OpenGL ICD, so you have to use this workaround to use OpenGL with the Banshee until they release drivers that have a true ICD." Actually the workaround is to "Download a copy of the latest 3Dfx OpenGL Beta 2.1. Get it from here. Put the 3dfxOpengl.dll in the Infinite Worlds directory. Rename it to opengl32.dll" but the Voodoo1/2 workaround is more ugly. There's no mention of the Voodoo3 at all.
