Interesting theory memflyken, but I think Softbank is well aware of what such an announcement would do to the price of Yahoo. I doubt they would make such a move. Better to sell off at a much slower pace and let the market slowly absorb the shares.

I think a more likely event would be the collapse of one of these merger deals. With the fall in share price one or both of the parties to these deals might bail.

But I'll stick with my theory that the big drop (if there is a big drop) will come after 1999 results are released.
