There is a guy on Yahoo named Outerli ...have been following his infrequent posts for months because he is clearly either an insider or privy to one. ( I suspect he works at AXC). Most of his posts have been forlorn, correctly announcing layoffs and very slow sales before they became public knowledge. So when he says something positive, I pay attention. Not in the habit of passing on unsubstantiated rumors, but, due to the accuracy and mood of his previous posts, he has a fairly high level of credibility now ( in my opinion). His post today ....

<EOM>BIG NEWS WILL COME SOMETIME THIS MONTH. MAYBE AT THE ANNUAL SHAREHOLDERS MEETING ON 5/28. THE NEWS CONCERNS ONE OF THE INTERNET RELATED COMPANYS AMPEX HAS A STAKE IN. AS FAR AS AMPEX SYSTEMS DIVISION, FORGET IT. VERY SLOW, LOW SALES VOLUMES. THAT'S MY INPUT. YOU DON'T HEAR FROM ME MUCH, BUT WHEN YOU DO, LISTEN.>>

( of course while I know what his idea of bad news is, we do not know what his idea of " big" news is yet ...but I assume it isn't a new watercooler purchase or anything like that <g>
....will be interesting to see what it is. Pretty sure it must be pleasant. Will hold on to my hat ( and 4-D goggles and stock) just in case.

Gus and any/all other 'techo-savvy engineer-speak' peeps,

As I am severely 'challenged' in this area, I am hoping that someone will take pity on me and lead me in the POSSIBLE direction that these recent patents from CRUS could be going (and IF they have any connection with Ampex industry). [some of the words that were (somewhat, at least) familiar brought me here...ie video, storage, buffers, and a few others]

My achin' brain would greatly appreciate ANY assistance!! -gg-

<<<Cirrus Logic, Inc. (CRUS) ÿ Patents 3 **new**
ÿ
ÿ Listing all new patents granted in the last 1 month (first 3 are NEW)

ÿ PATENT No. DESCRIPTION

ÿ 5,978,895ÿ Method for speeding mathematical operations in a processor core
ÿ 5,978,293ÿ Circuitry and methods for dynamically sensing of data in a static random access memory cell
ÿ 5,978,162ÿ Synchronous read channel integrated circuit employing a channel quality circuit for calibration
ÿ 5,974,580 Concurrent row/column syndrome generator for a product code

TIA
My best,

ps...pleeeze DO NOT hesitate to tell me if I am WAYYYY off base in thinkin' that these chip patents could/might pertain to this industry!
