Well not all DWDM is the same. Just like you have Core WAN routers and Edge/Enterprise routers, you have the same with DWDM. Ascend's WAN ATM routers are NOT the same as FORE's edge ATM routers, for example.

The core stuff is 40+ wavelength stuff. Today's technology is all Point-to-point stuff

Ours is at the 4-8 level, moving to 16 I'm sure. This is PLENTY GOOD at the edge or Enterprise or Metro level, but will not be enough to crack the major Telcos and Core carriers - UNLESS the dynamic point-to-any-point at an optical aspect becomes mainstream for the future. I think MRVC would still have to go to a higher number of wavelengths, or come out with something similar to what Silkroad claims to have - just my opinion.
