Frank - You seem to have a good handle on ATHM's technology. Here are a few questions if you don't mind:

What is HFC?

How scaleable is ATHM's system? For example, as a percentage, how much impact would there be if everyone on my neighborhood segment subscribed to ATHM?

How do they segment ATHM's network in an average california tract neighborhood, e.g. houses per segment.

Also, regarding your comment regarding opening up the cable lines to other ISP's, seems like only one company can manage the network out to the backbone for reasons such as, IP Addresses, etc. I think of the ATHM network the same as one would a power network. Other power providers can supply power into the grid but only one company manages the power system.
