The ATHM folks say that the open access bill was written by the two congressmen from VA and the only parties supporting the bill are AOL and the RBOCS, and T has enough lobbyists to deal with them. How about 19M AOL and Compuserve customers calling, emailing and writing their congressmen?

If I were Steve Case here's what I would do:
1. Explain this whole broadband situation to AOL members on the home page.
2. Tell members that T now controls over 50% of the cable lines in the US and refuses to allow AOL open access to those lines. If Congress does not pass the bill to force T to allow access, AOL customers will not have broadband access over those lines.
3. Tell customers if they want broadband access and want to make their voice heard in Congress they can contact their representative via email, fax, regular mail, telephone etc. Post all the contact info.

I'll put 19M AOL members screaming for open access up against T's lobbyists any day. The people made AOL what it is today and they are not about to let it get stepped on by a handful of Washington lobbyists and corrupt bureaucrats. We just need Steve Case to sound the wake up call.

Regards, Lee

PS- I had nothing against T until this past week. In fact, I just cashed a $75 check from them to switch my long distance from MCI. Guess I'll be switching back to MCI as soon as it clears. I wonder how many other AOL customers use T long distance that may decide not to after they hear about T's plan.
