<< Does anyone have some additional comments on how the AXC shareholders could benefit?>>

Just some half baked guesses here, Chris. Nothing new.Flick and Jubimer and BAM and Ed and Hugh and you and many others here and on yahoo have covered most all of this potential vista.

Assuming Outerli is correct and something is up ......

From a trading point of view ... If an IPO is it.... TVonWeb or Reiters ( Carl may well be right) or AENTV..or some combo..... I think a 300 million IPO is already priced in. There often is ( as the CBS article Ed Perry posted illustrated) an overshoot in the parent stock. So the announcement ( my guess ) would probably bring a new high for awhile. If it is announced in tandem with a striking development or two - say a unique style of e commerce, or most particularly a major alliance or a proprietary streaming patent ( as jubimer suggested) etc. ...it could be much more than a spike. Then , as BAM says, it could be a moon shot. Depends so much upon the specifics...or the synergies of the specifics.
The real long term benefit of an IPO would, of course, simply be capital. Here the real money hungry business needs outweigh any short term stock development. A well received IPO would do wonders for the potential success of these businesses( by providing needed cash) , and would enhance Ampex's credibility tremendously. As these businesses prosper in the long run, Ampex's value would prosper.
Really a world of possibilities here. Could be a total surprise - I do not know what makes Outerli grab his hat - but I suspect it is something. AXC does have a way of firing up the imagination sometime, spinning dreams.... lets say CBS announces that it is buying a 25% interest in TVontheWeb ( not Ampex's half) for 200 million - knowing that with their name attached their 25% could quickly be worth a billion in market capitalization and a base for early entry into web video....... just dreaming.....
( whatever it is ....4 looks pretty cheap here. I am gonna buy just a little more on any weakness just for an ultra long term hold and luck. I have often averaged down in stocks but this will be the first time I have averaged up )
Good weekend to all, and sweet dreams.
