tgptndr - "What is your definition of 'is'"

I can't go into it any further without violating the NDA. I give up. Either people are going to believe the CFO, or they are going to believe the books are cooked. All's I know is intel has always been ultra-conservative with regard to it's statements about the financial aspects of the business.

Look, I'll grant you this. Intel's CPU business would not be as lucrative without the Px and Xeon processor lines. However, there are a slug of semiconductor companies out there that eek out profits on lower margin parts. I would say that Celeron is at least in that type of league.

If every single CPU buyer in the universe started buying Celerons
and forsook the Px's and Xeons, Intel would certainly have to adjust some aspects of it's business. But this point is moot, unless you believe various aspects of the K7 launch are going to kick Intel's arse. I am not in that camp, and that debate is another topic.
