Actually, no. Cu would devastate any transistor. Al with Cu is not the problem, i.e., Cu won't damage Al.

The problem I am having with AMD's strategy is the lack of manufacturing synergy between their only two K7 fabs. A .18 Cu interconnect process and an .18 Al interconnect process are TOTALLY different in the back end.
