This isn't a matter of wisdom. It's common sense. They won't go back to horse and buggy, telegraph, or AOL.
I sure know I wont ever go back to dial-up. 7 months and counting till they claim I get cable internet(RR), and each day closer it gets harder to wait.
On the other hand I'm stunned when I hear how many people are still using 28.8K (or even 14.4) modems and haven't upgraded. Things always move slower than you might think. AOL has plenty of time to get its act together, and they seemed determined to take it right to the edge.
