Ron, nations are like the markets....both fueled by fear and greed. Push a Russian too far and you will see him/her react just like an American. The Russian people have been pushed too far. i don't know what the trigger will be, but i am certain that nationalism will regain power and the "new' Russia will make us wish for the old communists instead. -ng-

Yes - but the hidden agenda in the R' Accord was that Kosevo would have full independence in 3 years - no Serb could accept this - it was a shotgun agreement to appease the KLA. The parallel situation for Quebec would be unacceptable here - not only that - the Serbs were being asked to give up sovereignty in many areas - so we are having huge destruction in a sovereign country and Nato has been changed into an agent for agression. I hadn't realised too that Madeleine Albright has a particular role in this - her job apparently being in jeopardy she swung into the negotiations determined to be as macho as all get out. A poor negotiator at the best of times -so we are in part paying for her political ambition. She thought M'vitch 'just a schoolyard bully' could be brought to heel in a few days of bombing. At the same time the Clinton Admin., which governs by opinion polls signalled to M'vitch that ground troops were not an option. And why is this uranium necessary at all? These are people we are doing this to. d
