Thanks for pointing out the nearly linear growth (for the last two quarters). I'd been so taken with the 40% growth and the goal of 1Million by EOY I had not noticed the linear effect.
As of the last quarter report @home had 460,000 subscribers out of a total possible 15 million homes passed. Unless anyone thinks that 1/30 is the final penetration ratio there is a great deal of growth available even in the regions already upgraded. At least 2-3x in the near term.
What is holding it back? I'd always assumed it was the simple fact of having to train installers and roll trucks to do the installs. I dont see how having 25 million homes (or even 60 million) is going to get customers significantly faster at the current time. If upgrade to the wires doesnt pick up speed someday it will be the limitation, but it looks to me thats a fair time away.
I'd also assume that since T has recognized TCI's mistake and promised to pay a severe penalty if they dont meet higher subscriber goals that they are going to spend money as fast as is practical to increase subscriber numbers. What good would more cash from AOL do? It wouldnt help T, who is the worst offender. Sometimes all the money in the world just cant get things done any better or any faster.
Am I off base here? Anyone with insights or facts?
Eric
