//Morphics' Dynamically Reconfigurable Logic (DRL) technology enables
architectures that address these challenges. The Morphics technology enables wireless equipment manufacturers to support multiple air interface protocols with reduced costs. Using the adaptive solution from Morphics, basestation and handset manufacturers can design consolidated product platforms that can dynamically reconfigure themselves to handle any protocol.//

Thanks for the item Freeflight, but it raises questions which Ericy needs to answer.

It's great to have a solution to a problem. But why is there a problem to solve? Perhaps there is no real merit in having the problem in the first place. Perhaps the chip rates, synchronisation and coding could all be the same. The W-CDMA people need to come up with a reason for creating the problem other than a feeble attempt to create artificial technological barriers to entry in various markets.

If Ericy is successful, there will be bigger, slower and more expensive handsets. There will be a more gradual rollout of services which will cost more money. There is lots bad and nothing yet to say what the benefits are.

There are idle claims of increased data rates which are unsubstantiated. I'm unaware of any benefits for concatenated, convoluted Reed-Solomon coding compared with Turbo coding. Same for synchronisation - the Qualcomm system seems better. So why create the problems in the first place?
