Truff, given the sector rotation theme of this market, it may be better to examine sector put/call ratios for extremes, rather than looking at the market in total. Last years april and July tops seemed to be coincident in most sectors, not now.

KM,
With the outrageous prices and premiums on OEX options these days, I'm surprised that their total trading volume is'nt much lower!
I hardly trade then these days, even though I use the hourly OEX to time the market. (been trading OEX's and XAU's since 1983/84. The OEX LEAP puts going out a few years are a better bargain. Yogi

i have expanded a bit on the point raised by Larry McMillan - namely the parallels to 1987.
