Ron:

There is a Kosevo thread:

Subject 26815

One has to separate opinion and the rule of law - we are breaching the law by interfering in the affairs of a sovereign state. There are all sorts of other situations where moral outrage might have justified intervention - notably the Sudan where a policy of genocide has resulted in 1.5 million deaths - there are other examples including Liberia - which could have been of special interest to the U.S.

We are wrong in law - period. Next step why don't we interfere in a Russian province or ex-Russian province like Chechnia (sp?). And the Russians really fear this.

Or why won't the U.S., and the OAS interfere if Quebec vote to secede.

The terms of the R. Accord were unacceptable even to M'vitch's bitterest enemies - so in effect it was an accord to placate the KLA. If you don't sign we bomb you!

If we can't abide by the law - what authority do we have, or more to the point what legitimacy do we have? None. d
