Watch out, Jim. Two puns in one sentence might get you suspended from SI. <g>

That's a problem for telephone lines, too, isn't it. And they solved it for dsl.

I don't have an answer for your other points, which seem to be the bigger obstacles. (But "transformers and filters" sounds like the same kind of things DSL faced.)

I'll have to go back further to see the prior discussions.
