Update on my bank scam. Due to the way this seems to have worked out it has boiled down to two likely possibilities. An inside job at the bank or mail interception at my end which likely included stealing something with my SS#. The whole gig appeared to start about the first of April, coincidentally the same moment our long time mail carrier was reassigned to a new route, so it is unlikely they got my SS# from a 1099. That leaves tapping into one of the credit reporting agencies or looking at one of MY BROKERAGE statements. GULP!!!!! Doesn't look like they have hit any of the accounts yet but they sure as hell could have it in the works. And they have one checking statement that included cancelled checks so they now have my signature. Shit, what a mess.
