halfscot,I am happy to have you wade in...The data on certain types of pornography is ambiguous. It is clear that pornography broadly defined doesn't correlate (no one goes out and rapes after spanking the monkey to a Playboy centerfold), but here is a strong correlation between violent and abusive images and acting out. The question, which has never been definitively answered, is one of causality....My position is that the uncertainty about the causality merely becomes part of the risk- assessment: until such time as the question can be definitively answered, are we comfortable with continuing the circulation of materials which may very well increase the incidence of violence and abuse?
