Jim - I have personally held many stock certificates (including a few that are now just wallpaper!). I just was not familiar with the term GDS. Perhaps I should be? Should I assume this is different than simply obtaining your share certificates? In all the years of trading, however, and in particular since trading on-line with DLJ since 1991, It had never been an issue and I have had no need to request my certs from them. I had previously requested and held onto shares from my regular brokers, but have since "deposited" most all my certificates into my trading account. Now, however, I may have to reconsider all this! db
