>> ...neither did they look great when IOM was trading at $3 (pre-all of the splits). All Iomega had was this drive they named Zip. Nobody but a few fools were sure about its future success. <<

When IOM was at $3, the Zip drive was anticipated by tech-heads like no other peripheral in history. Zip was backorderd and sold-out for about a year after its release. It was not hard to figure out that Zip was going to be a success right off the bat, therefore the price run-up to $28.

But this is now today 1999, not 1995. There is no such highly anticipated product by Iomega. Flop! is readily available but is not flying off the shelves. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Flop! is dying a quiet little death on dusty store shelves right before our eyes. There is no backorder for either Flop! drives or disks. There is no wide-eyed anticipation by digital camera buffs for an internal Flop! (Just check out the LACK of any build-up or barely any mention of Flop! in the newsgroup <rec.photo.digital> to see what I mean) There is no great hunger for Flop! by Palm Pilot or Windoze CE users.

Quite simply, there is no reason to be excited about owning IOM stock. The market has moved on. The laggards are still here.

No offense, but it's true.

Re: Just one additional thought

It is not good to be either emotionally attached or emotionally unattached to a stock.

I think there are some that have verbally hammered this stock so long that they now think they know more than the people who are running the company. Remember, Iomega's problem in the past was not saying enough.

I may be wrong, but my guess is the 10% revenue estimate for clik! is conservative.

I am willing to wait and see.

Take Care,

John

<< RE; No Offense taken Ken. >>

Thank you. As a said in a previous post, I think highly of all of you and am therefore not afraid to criticize views I believe are wrong. They are NOT personal attacks. My posts are only my opinions.. Take them or leave them...

About your 'gut feel': Sometimes they work out! But I agree with Rocky's assessment. ZIP was the hottest thing ever when it first came out. I immediately bought the stock amongst all the buzz. CLIK! is nothing like this. This is the info I'm investing on. I'll wait to see numbers from Iomega proving my observations wrong.
