Light over those rusting lines. Reminds me of an old NYTimes article from the past (maybe 7 or 8 years ago). It was at a time when Bell Labs was pilfering all of those scientists from the former USSR for a song. I read about an acoustic equivalent to soliton activity in solid matter longitudinal channel constructs, much like long runs of fiber or coax.

It worked on a more mechanically induced, piezo-accoustic principle. Recall what I'm referring to? The Russians were hard at work on it at the time, and it portended to be a threat to silica based fiber in some regards.

I distinctly recall reading about it, and I cut the article out. Now, if I can only remember if it's in my garage, or in my office archives, or in cold storage, or....
