A Point & Figure Perspective.

SFAM broke a Double Top at $13.00 and is now 1 box above it's Bearish Resistance Line. Although the stock could very well continue it's up move with out a pull back it would not encounter hard resistance until it hits the $20-$21 area which was the point at which it reversed it's previous sideways trend and headed lower. A pullback and intraday or closing print of $14.50 would be healthy and would permit an opportune entry point for traders. A strong move through the BRL at 15.50 -16 would be bullish and we may not see a pullback until we approach the previous resistance in the $20 range.

Of course if SFAM gets bought this weekend this technical analysis can be ignored.

This might help explain some things as this post is from the yahoo board, as it sure sounds like something is up!

The Real Deal is........
by: equipengin (42/M/Zip Code 85296, AZ) 1171 of 1171you guys all make me laugh! You don't see a good story developing even though it has been dropped right in your lap, and you are constantly trying to downplay the facts, which are as follows:
1. two weeks ago a Japanese equip manufacturer inquired about the possibility of doing a friendly deal. This could have been TEL, SCREEN, or Sumitomo, who all want to get into the CMP business very badly. Most likely TEL because they have a huge presence in Arizona, and know SFAM very well.
2. SFAM said thanks but no thanks and immediately went to their investment banker to see if they had any options i.e. white knight like KLAC or NVLS.
3. NVLS ceo Richard Hill dearly wants this Co. (SFAM) as he has been working very closely with both IPEC & SFAM for years in order to combat AMAT. See Damascus Copper Project. He goes to his investment banker to see how quickly they can put together a stockswap merger and this is where the leaks started.
4. Japanese Co. has indicated they are willing to pay a substantial cash premium over the current market value of SFAM so this is putting allot of pressure on Hill to get something done very quickly.
5. News of these talks have leaked out over the last several days causing a buying frenzy. Word on the street is that SFAM could fetch as much as $30 a share from the Japanese and that would still be a great deal for them cause they get $5 a share refund because of all the excess cash that SFAM currently has on it's balance sheet.
6. Hill wasn't availble for comment cause he was offsite on Thurs and Friday meeting with their investment banker. Only detail to work out is what percentage of NVLS stock goes to SFAM shareholders as currency.
7. The analysts have estimated that if SFAM were to hook up with someone like TEL their annual revenues could easily grow to $750 mil to $1 billion by the year 2003. It would cost TEL 1 times sales to by an established CMP co. that they will be able to give the needed support infrastructure to compete against AMAT. If you don't believe me call any analyst that cover these stocks and they"ll be happy to explain this to you.
8. The problem for Hill is he might not be able to grow SFAM as quickly so this might hurt his chances.

Monday should be very interesting and good luck to all you SFAM longs.
