There are too many situations in the world where there have been actions that were in fact illegal - but we didn't jump in to redress the wrong. The first mistake was the unseemly haste of countries - notably Germany with Croatia to recognise the breakaway regimes. If Quebec were to declare UDI we could expect France - who have their own mischief to play - to recognise it - but maybe not many more. Actually the new world order has produced another illegality, unsanctioned by the UN - namely the so-called 'no-fly zones' in Iraq. Who knows what the US and the UK are really up to there? No newpaper sales in getting to the bottom of that story so it isn't covered. We're told that radar and anti-aircraft sites are being attacked. Why should be believe a word of it? And the people of Iraq continue to suffer under the sanctions. And Saddaam is a convenient whipping boy for our inhumanity to the ordinary people as in 'it's all Saddam's fault' We only use the UN when it suits our book - the present situation doesn't so we don't. I guess if Russia were to invade Afghanistan all over again we could hardly claim the high ground? What goes around comes around. Guess we should be making these postings on the Kosevo thread? D
