That would be like 20 years of World production of gold. It's 415 tonnes. The BOE wouldn't have reserves of gold that were about half UK GDP in any case.

I tend to agree with Lucretius (for a change <g>) that gold will rally but not by much. I will be BTDing in Australia first thing Monday morning. Have a look at NAB:

This was on US interest rate dears mainly. They released a record profit a few days back.

I reckon the Aussie market will get a further hammering before recovering. It fell below 3000 Friday before the BOE news.
